Going away for a few days, alone or with your band, to work on your EP or album, in a little corner of paradise, in Thailand in Koh Samui, that's the idea of the residential studio. We talked about this residential studio concept with Pierre Jacquot, renowned sound engineer, who spent a few days at Sunrise Studio in February 2023.

Can you tell us about the concept of the residential studio in Koh Samui, what do you think of it? (the concept? the location? for whom?)
Pierre Jacquot:
"Well... I just came back from this paradise! It's hard to be objective again! I knew two other Thai spots that I liked but that had gone a bit unnoticed in the middle of my many trips.
Koh Samui is a bit like Thailand in Thailand (laughs!)
There is a very close side, very much in contact with the inhabitants and clearly, you both have a lot of good ideas to suggest to your guests!
What struck me deeply was your willingness to be a real part of this beautiful place!
Liam learns the language, plays in the local clubs, all of you seek contact and you interact with the Thai people. We don't feel at all like the archetype of the tourist who gets out of his bus with his straw hat and camera!
Your house is vast, open to nature, very close to the sea with a short scooter ride. You feel free and connected when you get there.
I think this context of residential studio is ideal for any artistic endeavor in which you want complete immersion. The idea can also be to mix relaxation and projects... I think we are clearly a step further than the usual proposals of the residential studio genre! I have known a few studios that gave this impression of unique moments, of extraction from everyday life... honestly, there have not been many!"
